San Rio Ocean & River Club Celebrates More Than 100 Homesites Sold During Grand Opening Event

Shallotte, N.C., May 1, 2007—The new Coastal Division of Wakefield Development Company, the Triangle’s largest developer of residential communities, hosted an overwhelmingly successful weekend-long grand opening event selling 110 homesites for its newest master-planned community, San Rio Ocean & River Club in Shallotte, North Carolina. Featuring a unique Caribbean theme, this new resort-style community is unlike anything else along the coast of North Carolina. Purchasers of these homesites traveled from states as far away as Florida, New York, Ohio, California. Many buyers hailed from more nearby towns in North and South Carolina., to include, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach.

Developers Steve Sandler, owner of L.M. Sandler and Sons, Inc., John Myers, president of Wakefield Development Company, and Jim Wiseman, president of Wakefield Development Company’s Coastal Division kicked off the weekend with a Caribbean-style dinner reception for potential homebuyers. The festivities continued on Saturday with live Caribbean entertainment, gourmet meals, exciting activities and helicopter tours of the site and the surrounding area.

“We are excited and proud of the success of the grand opening of San Rio Ocean & River Club,” said John Myers, president of Wakefield Development Company. “This weekend provided an opportunity to showcase the community’s Caribbean vision and its naturally breathtaking environment on the North Carolina coast, and we could not have asked for a more enthusiastic response.”

The clubhouse is currently planned to include a world-class resort-style pool with waterfall, private cabanas, a grotto spa, Tiki bar terrace, outdoor fireplaces, kids’ water world and splash zone, and much more. Other proposed community amenities will include a themed indoor aquatic center, sandy beach zone, tennis courts, lazy river, nature trails, fitness center, and more.
